I have the same thoughts as the solstice approaches here in Maine. It's all uphill from here!, I think, even though so much winter still lies ahead. And I share your contentment at being back in a place with proper seasons. It's nice to read your words, and I miss you. Sending some light from here. xo

Thank you, my friend! I was just eating fistfuls of pfeffernussen and thinking of your cookie parties.

I think those ship well, right ;) The cookie party is tomorrow. You and the pfeffernusse will be missed!

Ha! You'd think it'd be easy to draw the line at Nazis.

Hi Jonathan, I garden at Kenton Community Garden, where arugula dominates my plot in winter, along with mache/corn salad and of course hairy bittercress. I feel blessed!

That sounds like a great salad mix!

"Ambition is hard to find in Pacific Northwest winters." Thank you for saying that! I needed that reassurance that it isn't just me. :) I too feel most connected to the solstice and particularly celebrate the winter solstice because I've made it one more year in this wet, dark place. Ha! Looking forward to clinking glasses to a fresh new year and the coming light.

Good for you about Substack. Any way we can make our voices hear about this issue? I am NOT interested in supporting platforms that won't ban Nazis.
