I have a pot of pink dandelions that I grew from seed. That's right -- I spent two years coaxing these weeds from seed to flower, but now that they are mature, I have a handy source for young greens to add to my salads.
We already have plenty of lawn dandelions -- my hope is that the pink ones shift the genetic mix, and at least make the weeds a little more interesting.
The best dandelion recipe I've made was dandelion blossoms battered (I went tempura-like) and fried. It was much easier to gather enough blossoms from my parents' large, midwestern backyard than mine in California. Though there are still enough dandelions popping up on the mulch between my drought-tolerant plants to be a nuisance!

Pink dandelions! Do you pinch off the flowers so they don't go to seed and infect your lawn?

Ha!
Oh my gosh, Jon, hilarious and touching. <3

Interesting! I do backyard falafel in the summers since I don't fry inside. Sounds like that might overlap with peak dandelion flower season.
