Thanks again Jonathan for a lovely and thought-provoking piece. We just got "permission" from our HOA to modify our teeny tiny patch of lawn with "beds" and we are considering taking some steps (after we get done with our ice storm related repairs!).
Sounds like you need to visit Outdoor School with me - lots of spruce tips. Last week, one of our nurses was talking about a tea and a salve she makes. :) Oh! Let me know if you want a cutting from our grapes out back. We aren't tending to them so they could benefit from a pruning.
Oh, hey: If you have any other suggestions for perennial or self-seeding salad greens that do well in sunny yards, let me know?
